Our Charleston Baluster System
The Charleston Balustrade System is a traditional style with modern durability. Featuring crisp lines and rich detail, the Charleston spindle style has the distinct charm of classic millwork. It looks excellent when paired with our architectural columns, and compliments a wide range of exteriors. The Charleston Balustrade System features a height of 35", making it a suitable for residential installation. Detailed top rails, bottom rails, newel posts and caps complete this style.![]()

The 4" ball space requirement rule gives you the maximum center-to-center distance between Balusters and still does not allow a 4" Ball to pass through at any point between the Balusters. When laying out Balustrade System, use the maximum center to center dimension or smaller to allow for a safe dimension to pass the 4" ball space requirement rule.

Each of our Newel Posts are constructed out of polyurethane and reinforced with high-density structural PVC. This provides the newel with more excessive strength to pass all BOCA National Building Codes and fully support over an eight-foot run of balustrade. With several sizes to choose from, the architectural newel posts not only provides an immense amount of strength, but also contributes to the fluid design of elegance for our polyurethane balustrade systems.
Along with our newel posts, we also offer a variety of Porch Posts that are reinforced with high-density structural PVC. These reinforced Porch Posts have a large load-bearing capacity. Our porch posts can also be field trimmed to various heights without losing load rating.
Our Endura-Stone™ Balustrades feature an innovative patent-pending design that combines polymer and marble to create a marble alternative. Crushed marble and fiberglass-reinforced resins are combined to bring you an advanced balustrade material that enhances with traditional character.
![]() 4" Sphere-Rule RequirementOne of the most well-known codes in the construction industry is the 4" Sphere Code, also known as the 4” ball rule. This Code states that spindles or balusters must be spaced close enough together so that a 4" ball cannot pass through any given space in between each spindle. Each of our spindles and balusters come with a recommended On Center Spacing. This measurement is designed to space the spindles as far apart as possible, while still passing the 4" ball code. |
